Our Waltz

Renee Adele Phillips
with Helen Lemmel (“Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”)

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
I feel such a heaviness upon me
No light in the darkness you see?
and the light I need is dimming to nothing.
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
I must stop my whirlwind of thoughts
And life more abundant and free!
and look towards the smallest light I still see.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
I look up, away from myself and this world
Look full in His wonderful face,
and into the radiance of Jesus.
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
Everything around me fades to black
In the light of His glory and grace.
until all I can see is His face.

His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
I move towards Him and give Him my hand,
Believe Him, and all will be well:
and trust Him to lead me up and outwards
Then go to a world that is dying,
into a dance that will light up my darkness—
His perfect salvation to tell!
and draw those who see it to Him.
