About Me

Renee

I’m Renee. I live with my husband and three cats in a small town on the prairie of northeastern Colorado. We’re relatively new to small town life, having moved here from the city six years ago—we moved so that my husband could work for our family business. I work for the business, too, but my passion is writing.

My journey hasn’t been an easy one, but it’s one I wouldn’t change. I suffered for many, many years from debilitating migraines and in a misguided attempt to stop the pain, I got addicted to painkillers and alcohol. I’ve been in recovery for seven years, and in that recovery, I’ve discovered the beauty of life—the blessings that I was blind to for so many years. And I’ve learned that the beautiful—words, art, music—can mend the broken. I thank God every day for my life in this town, with my husband, our cats, and our family. It isn’t perfect, but it’s mine. And I wouldn’t trade it for anyone else’s.

“Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful, for beauty is God’s handwriting.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
