A Prayer for Ukraine
– The Lord’s Prayer
with additional words by R.A.P.
Our Father,
My God, my God
which art in heaven,
Why? Have You forsaken them?
hallowed be Thy name.
You are the God Who Sees, the Prince of Peace, the King of Kings
Thy kingdom come
yet I cannot see You in this slaughter of the innocent
Thy will be done
and I wonder why and where You are.
on earth as it is in heaven.
I long, as they must, for that day
Give us this day
when You “will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or crying or pain.”
Our daily bread
But today–today they are starving
And forgive us our trespasses,
and fleeing homes they can never return to:
as we forgive those that trespass against us.
Mariupol, Bucha, Lviv, Kyiv–
Lead us not into temptation,
in ashes, ashes—they’re falling down.
but deliver us from evil:
How much more evil than “surrender or die?”
For Thine is the kingdom,
I don’t understand Your end game,
and the power
But I choose to trust Your plan as I beg You–
and the glory
God, shed Your grace on Ukraine.
for ever
May we hold them up with prayer
and ever.
and stand with them until the final all clear.
Amen.
Amen.
