Love Song

Love Song
– Renee Adele Phillips

Just then, she felt an ache in her heart for
something more.
And in that moment
her life began to change.

He had given her glimpses of
what was possible with Him
and she knew He wanted to give her
life: abundant life.

He longed for her to trust Him,
and with a heart full of tender mercy
He watched her,
mired in a mess of her own making.
Even in her sin
He called to her to trust His love and its promise.

She heard His gentle whisper,
“Child, invite me in. I long to show you
My love and give you rest from your fears.
Don’t you know you bring me joy? Trust Me.
You were born for so much more than this.”

She listened.
And though she was afraid,
she chose to trust Him
each new day.
He had known her longest,
knew her best,
and loved her most.
So she let go
of all she’d held so tightly
and reached out to Him
and His promise of a future and
a hope for her.

And what He gave her
when He took the hands she finally offered Him
was not just a better life—
It was life:
so much more than she had dared to dream.

The daily surrender scared her still,
but when she listened, she heard Him whisper,
stirring the darkness around her into light:
“Trust me, dear child.”
And she did, holding tightly to His hand,
trusting Him to cradle her heart.

  3. Well, Sparrow, had to re-read,, twice, to try to get the full meaning of your blog. I feel, my own perspective, you had encountered Our Lord. He kept wanting you to reach to Him, when you finally did, your life, spiritual, human, you had arrived, in the wondrous world, that only Our Lord can given. Spiritual renewal, everyday. Again, this is my interpretation. I enjoyed the blog, thoroughly. Keep on blogging #4Sparrow. Love ya, TexGen
