Drug overdoses are the leading cause of death of Americans under 50.
In 2016, drug overdoses killed more Americans than both wars in Iraq and Vietnam combined.
Annually, overdose deaths surpass deaths from both car accidents and guns combined.

Renee,
That’s cannon fire to the soul!
It is my hope your message gets out and saves at least one soul. More hopefully. You have a powerful pen. Please use it against the evil one.
Thank you so much, Steve. Your hope is my prayer–to reach even one person who needs it. I so appreciate your encouragement.

Wow, not sure ( for the first time perhaps) what to say. I can’t stop thinking about Tibbs and the anquish he must have gone through, time after time, coming clean and then that one more hit to ease the pain. The one more final hit that carried him away from us. There are so many ways we ease the pain. A short while ago the person who played our magnificent organ after the service each Sunday, passed away. She was an accomplished musician, choir director and well known for her concerts that she presented all over. On her last Sunday she played like I had never heard her before, the next Saturday she was gone, death by suicide. How to understand the many hurts, the way these friends, community members, family members got to where they are, or where and was there anything more we could or should have done. We will never know.
That’s what makes me sad–that we’ll never know. And who is suffering in silence that we could help somehow? I’m so sorry for the loss of your friends. We need a new kind of painkiller–community. Except so many (like I was) are afraid to reach out. I wish there was a solution. Thank you for adding your thoughts to mine, Klara.
Afraid to reach out–exactly–no further explanation needed– and us constantly wondering why or how and what we could have done–had we known. It breaks my heart.
Mine, too. Had we known. . .
Wow! Such a powerful lament; yet it ends in hope. You’re a brave soul, Renee! Keep writing and sharing!
Thank you so much. I needed to hear that encouragement today–because I certainly do NOT feel brave. I so appreciate your support.
Powerful! And scary 🙁
Yes, it is scary. An epidemic, for sure. Thank you for listening to it and commenting.
